Preventive Dentistry FAQs

How often does my child need to be checked for tooth decay?

We recommend twice-yearly cleanings and exams for most children. At these appointments, we’ll keep an eye out for any decay or signs of damage. The frequency of examination is based on cavity risk, so some children should be checked every three months, and others yearly.

Is restorative care covered by insurance?

While every insurance policy is different, most insurance plans cover at least a portion of restorative dentistry treatments. Contact us for full details of your coverage.

If my child has damage or decay in a baby tooth, does it still need to be fixed?

Even if a tooth will eventually fall out, it is often still beneficial to fix decay or damage to avoid pain and infection, and keep your child’s adult teeth developing properly and the rest of their body healthy.
